I was lying in bed, it was about 9am and I was contemplating what to do. Fishing was in the plan for the day but exactly what that would entail I really was not sure. The river (Carron) was mostly discounted as it was so low last time and I don’t think there has been any rain of significance since I was out there. I could maybe go to a local fishery but wasn’t sure where….then I picked up my phone and noticed I had a missed call and there was a message in my inbox… “did I fancy some fishing today” it said, a message from Radek.

It is fair to say my 2022 season hasn’t gotten off to the most “flying start”. A perfect storm of mostly work, and to some extent weather has kept me away from the water pretty much since the season opened. As the long Easter weekend approached I hoped for a wee bit of rain so I might be able to venture down the River Carron (which seems to have been fishing reasonably well for early season) and there were some brief interludes of rain in the last week, but when I made it out on Friday afternoon it looked quite low and my hopes definitely took a knock.

If you follow my blog ( I hope you follow my blog, and if you do, thanks so much) I assume it is because like me you have a keen interest in fly fishing mostly for Trout ( and sometimes Grayling). So if you are at all purist about that, maybe don’t read on this one time. This post isn’t about fly fishing, nor about fishing for Trout ( of any variety).
