Before I was even set up James had risen and missed 2 or 3 fish!

It wasn’t long when I started to get some action myself. As the bugs swung round and up on my French Leader and I started to lift I thought I spotted a swirl- or was it just the water vortexing round some rocks? I put the fly in there again, nothing, then once more, this time a take, and a lovely wee summer Grayling of about 25 cms was landed on a pheasant tail nymph.

What a difference a day makes

I had a couple of hours to get out and make hay so to speak on Saturday and Sunday. Friday as I reported earlier wasn’t the nicest day but between the squally showers in the dank greyness of the afternoon, there were batches of flies coming off the water and the Trout were chasing them up, so you stood a chance sub surface and even on the top.
