Carron Valley: An Antidote to Coronavirus

Once again though I cannot tell a lie, rolling up at the Carron Valley car park to get tackled up made me very nervous. This really isn’t like me but it’s strange how 3 months of being told to keep apart and being cocooned in my wee home-bubble has affected my outlook on the world. I am not at all keen to rush out anywhere right now. The garden is mostly just fine for me….just a shame there is no where to sit in it for now…..or a fishing pond!

Not So Wet

I cast again and there was a beautiful take as a Rainbow “porpoised” right onto the fly. No hesitation, no subtle take, just bam! Suddenly, the day didn’t seem so miserable. Actually, it wasn’t anyway, as the rain had stopped, there was a perfect light east/Southeasterly breeze, a perfect ripple or light wave and fish willing to take a look at flies presented on top.

Faughlin Reservoir Trout Fishery

Faughlin Reservoir is an old reservoir that sits in the Carron Valley to the east of the main Carron Valley Reservoir and is operated as a small Stillwater by the Carron Valley Fishery. It has more of a “club” feel to it and I understand there is a fairly regular group of season ticket members who frequent the water giving it this atmosphere.
