I took a drive along to the Tait’s Tomb area of the River Devon and supposing I never cast a line, I would reacquaint myself with a section of the Devon I probably haven’t fished in at least five years and frankly couldn’t remember much about, though I probably fished here more than anywhere on the river.

Summertime, and the fishing’s not easy

After such a hot bright day yesterday I took a wander up the River Devon, thinking there would be lots of activity. In fact there was but it was mostly small trout and despite the abundance of flies on the water, from midges to very large Mayflies of some sort, I could not get any real idea of what they were taking.
