Late season, Summer Lows

I have had a hankering to get up to the Tummel recently. It’s a funny river, it can be a wee bit all or nothing. More often than not it’s nothing, but when it is good it is very good. At this time of year if the Grayling are out and about it can be a lot of fun and of course you have the bonus that the Brown trout are still fair game for another few weeks. Also as Autumn heads this way it is a bonny area to be in, especially on a nice day. Usually there is a lot of mist around on the surrounding hills and as it lifts you get the Autumn colours on display.

A Happy Place

Finally, FINALLY! The day came when we are allowed to travel outside our own local authority area, and with the Brown Trout fly-fishing season well and truly here, suddenly there were lots of options and possibilities.

Carron Valley: An Antidote to Coronavirus

Once again though I cannot tell a lie, rolling up at the Carron Valley car park to get tackled up made me very nervous. This really isn’t like me but it’s strange how 3 months of being told to keep apart and being cocooned in my wee home-bubble has affected my outlook on the world. I am not at all keen to rush out anywhere right now. The garden is mostly just fine for me….just a shame there is no where to sit in it for now…..or a fishing pond!
