Carron Valley: An Antidote to Coronavirus
Once again though I cannot tell a lie, rolling up at the Carron Valley car park to get tackled up made me very nervous. This really isn’t like me but it’s strange how 3 months of being told to keep apart and being cocooned in my wee home-bubble has affected my outlook on the world. I am not at all keen to rush out anywhere right now. The garden is mostly just fine for me….just a shame there is no where to sit in it for now…..or a fishing pond!

Social Distancing?
The season started today ( Tight lines by the way, hope you have a good season….though everything seems somewhat surreal just now), and as I have spent quite a lot of time up at Cocksburn Reservoir over the last couple of weeks, trying to get the boats ready for the new season and a functional mooring to tie them up on securely, I felt that I should head there for my first opportunity to wet a line this year.

Cabin Fever Relief
Fever seems to be on everyone’s mind right now, though maybe not the “cabin” variety. It feels like forever since I last wet a line, in winter I usually try to get out at some point on a weekend but the weather has been abysmal this last month, especially at weekends. Even on my regular “every other” Friday off’s I have been having- using up the last of my annual leave before the end of the financial year its either blown a gale or tipped down.

Ahead of Storm Ciara
I think it is fair to say that Storm Ciara has been well heralded ahead of its arrival on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was fortunate to have today ( Friday) off and with a couple of chums from SCAC saying they were going up to Orchill today I decided to head there myself to kill a few hours getting my piscatorial fix for the week.
