Saturday was the Annan Fishery Board, Grayling fishing day. The day is set up as a survey of the river primarily for Sea Trout but also other species, and anglers are offered fishing on one of a number of beats in return for a donation to the Celtic Sea Trout survey.

You may be aware there are stories circulating of a huge Grayling caught on the Clyde recently by a youngster. I believe it was caught on Sweetcorn so not my kind of sport I have to say but some fish none the less.

After the disappointment of the river conditions on Saturday I was keen to head out for a couple of hours in the relatively bright weather of Sunday, albeit a little blustery at times. I wandered round to Swanswater where it was very quiet due to the main loch being partially drained while silt removal works take place.
