Final Bristol Update
I was invited by a long time work friend, Dave to come and fish the By Brook in Wiltshire. He is a member of a club that runs a stretch of this small stream I would guess about a mile or so long.

Read MoreMy son suggested last week that we might go up the hills for an explore down the burn we found, and have a spot of fishing on Sunday (Fathers Day). So with the prospect of a nice day out with my son and some potentially decent weather, we set out on the short drive to the head of the burn.
Read Morewent back up the wee burn I fished on the bank holiday, when out with the family. I only had limited time to fish then, and never had a net or waders so access was a bit tricky in places and there were a few runs that looked massively inviting and sure to hold fish but the wind made them all but un-fishable. Also I lost a “favourite” fly on a bush that ordinarily I would have simply waded over to and retrieved and it was sort of bugging me as I knew exactly where it was, in the words of the US Marine Corps, or whoever it is, “never leave a man behind”, I went back for it.

I had spotted what looked like a route I had not seen before, when out a few days earlier in the car and after a look at an OS map decided why don’t we try that. The weather forecast was rubbish (well not as bad as of late but still due to be wet) so not venturing too far from home meant we could bolt back if it was a bad decision.
