Famine and feast

Saturday was the SCAC outing to Frandy. The day started a bit dreich but the forecast was for a warm sunny day and little winds. I don’t know if it is due to the lochs location in a bowl in the hills but it was grey most of the day with the odd light shower and some very changeable and blustery winds which made fishing tricky at times. The wind blew in general towards the dam wall though it would change in the space of two gusts from blowing towards the left end of the dam, to blowing towards the right end.

Can anyone find my MoJo?

After a crappy on-call week ( not that it was especially bad other than in the way that any on-call week is crap as you are apt to be dragged out your bed at some god-forsaken hour and asked to look at something thats broke , knowing that probably 2-3 others have tried and failed so far) I wanted to go catch the evening rise somewhere, wher  I know there are fish in front of me. Never having done Orchill in an evening, and having a score to settle from my lost monster and other near misses escapade a few weeks back I headed there.

Toughing it out

A glutton for punishment, it was up to Pendreich again for an evening of warm sunshine, plentiful fly life, a ripple on the water and eager Brown Trout begging to take a well presented dry fly.

In the company of Damsels

It’s a call out weekend so fishing choices are limited by phone and pager. I went up to Pendreich on what looked like a perfect fishing afternoon. Breezy enough to create a little wave, bright but not glaringly so, and reasonably warm but not roasting. Surely the fish would be on the top and feeding.
