I did I caught one. Really. It was a 2lb Rainbow from the Meadow Pond at Swanswater on an LTD sedge dry fly about 6 casts in to a 2 hour sojourn last night.
Was otherwise hard going, had a couple of pulls on a wee pink rabbit lure ( never a favourite way to fish but decided to give it a go after trying wets, dries, nymphs and buzzers), and a couple of wee swirls at a buzzer. Plenty fish moving at least earlier on but hard to identify what they were taking, something microscopic. They were following flies right in to your feet trailing about 4 feet behind but you eventually run out of somewhere to go with your fly when its literally at your feet!
But I caught a fish!
Yeah not the best tale of late but normal service will resume when the fish decide to play again!

A friend and I drove over to Carsington Water yesterday. Unfortunately we can’t choose the days we can go , so we go when we can.
However after a full day of trying everything we both knew? We resulted in zero trout and 3 Perch.
A very nicely sunburned face and arms….very hard work for nothing. But that’s fishing eh ?

Yep- pretty much the same boat, I can only get out when I am physically able and have the time. Sometimes it works for you sometimes against. No point sitting in the house wishing you wer eout fishing, just because the conditions might not be perfect, the odd time you get a surprise! £ Perch isn’t a blank anyway 🙂
I too am disabled and need to get on the water at least once a week…ref Perch, well I did go out to catch Trout tho’. My god it was soul destroying and hard work. we got to 7 oclock before giving up.. tight lines <')))<
Any idea what materials are needed for a Muskins nymph? Not sure what the red uv material at the thorax is matt cairns.
Not a fly I have come across but it seems a simple enough pattern, a variation of the PTN with a red holographic trigger point at the head. You can get Red holo pretty much anywhere but online try flybox.co.uk. Thi slink shows a variant, that doesn’t seem to have the holo.
