A few weeks back someone mentioned to me a fishery up in the Campsies called Woodburn. I think it had been mentioned to me last year sometime, but I forgot about it, and so never got round to a visit. I had been over at GAC earlier so wanted to try and get an afternoon in somewhere new and Woodburn popped into my mind as worth a trip. I had been warned it wasn’t the place for a windy day and today seemed pretty still if a bit showery ( ever the master of understatement).
I arrived about half twelve, and a couple of anglers ( also first timers here) were just leaving, as far as I could tell they had caught one fish but said there were plenty moving beyond the boom on the dam wall side. I was the sole angler there.
Once I had got my ticket and tackled up I made my way down. To be honest there was quite a bit weed for a fair portion of this bank and it wasn’t until near the boom that it cleared enough that you could fish without risk of snagging ( at least on a dry fly).
