rome just to replenish losses and some in preparation for the new season. How much I might be able to fish is in question but we live in hope.
Snatchers
Tied with Greenwells Cock feather, Pearsalls Primrose silk, Brown micro wire and JC Cheeks
Pendreich, early season with its Brown Trout seems to fish well with nymphs and on days when there is a bit heat and a few flies coming off, the Snatcher style flies do well.
Half a box of Snatchers, Black, Pearly, Irish, Claret and UV Lavender
So I don’t get caught out this year I have tied up loads of these in sizes 8 through to 16, with more at the small end of the scale. I have done red butt blacks, pearly blacks, UV lavender and dun, claret, and Greenwells ( think Greenwells Glory tied snatcher style ).
Two Hours at Swanswater
I did manage a two hour session at Swanswater yesterday. Conditions were very similar to my last outing there with a strong easterly blustery wind.

It was very quiet with only two anglers out. I fished right round starting at the east bank, but getting no interest, then onto the island fishing in the channel, the wind though made this very hard and I was getting snagged up a lot. A move round the roadside I hoped would bring success like last time but still nothing, I tried buzzers, bloodworm patterns, hothead damsels, and eventually a black Montana and black Humungous but had not so much as a touch. I stuck to an intermediate line as there was nothing up top. The water was very clear on the east side but cloudier elsewhere.
I eventually returned to the east side by the dam wall but never had so much as a tug. All a bit disappointing and first blank of the year.
