I have posted already about the actual fishing part of my trip to Wales. I had a great time on the weekend though it was my second time on the course having attended the event in November last year which had much the same format. I felt that as a relative “newbie” to river fishing after a 30 year break and also never having fished for Grayling, that it would do me a lot of good in going last time.

Day three started a little overcast, but it turned out very mild and a great day for fishing. We went to one of the beats I fished last year but with the water considerably clearer and lower a lot more of this beat was fishable than last time.

Day 2 on the Dee and day 1 of the course. We fished the golf course section of the Maelor club water, as last year but it was a totally different river from then.

I am down in Llangollen for the weekend to fish the Dee with John Emerson and Hywel Morgan and had a cheeky wee session with Hywel and John pre official course. The weather was brilliant for the time of year, sunny all day and quite fresh, but very very pleasant for a day on the river.

Went up to the River Devon on Saturday for a few hours, as much to get a bit of a cast and a walk at the same time. Had not been out all week with the Manflu being prevalent in my space!
