The Wrong River?

I went fishing for Grayling, at last, for the first time this “winter”. OK technically it is still most definitely Autumn and depending whether you opt for the meteorological definition or lunar definition, winter is still 3 or nearly 6 weeks away. That didn’t stop Jack Frost visiting overnight Friday and temperatures were as low as -7C in some parts of Scotland, though a balmy -3C here in Stirling when I headed off. I needn’t have fretted though ( is it just me that gets weird about finding my own space when fishing?), one chap left while I was gearing up, I didn’t see where he came from ( up or downstream) but I did notice he looked like he was moving elsewhere, as he drove off fully kitted. A bad sign maybe?

Strathearn: A Kind of Homecoming?

I often wonder did my Great Grandfather ever visit the river, maybe even fish for the odd trout or maybe poach a Salmon? I will never know but it kind of felt like following in long trodden footsteps, when yesterday, for the first time, I went and fished the River Earn.
