The Christmas Pudding
With probably my last outing of the year, the decade even, would my fishing continue to to be a Turkey, would Santa offer some piscatorial respite, or would I end up a bit of a Christmas Pudding?

Read MoreAfter a trip to London and back at the backend of the week, I couldn’t be bothered going far at the weekend. So on Sunday with the sun shining and the frost still lying fairly thick at midday I headed along to Swanswater for a few hours. I usually enjoy my winter fishing, especially out in the sun on an otherwise cold day.
Read MoreWhen I awoke ( not sure I was really sleeping) on Sunday round 07:30 the trees were giving it “laldie” being disturbed by gusty winds. Nymphing for Grayling requires good line control and having the wind bow the delicate line ‘twixt rod tip and water is no good to man nor beast. I wasn’t going to drive 130 miles round trip to be defeated by the weather. Nope, I chose early capitulation and went back to bed for a few hours!

I was off on holiday last week, doing the tourist thing around Edinburgh and Glasgow. It is funny that while I have travelled a fair bit over seas in my immune suppressed state and presumably am exposed to foreign bugs, that it was on home shores in my home town that I caught a heavy cold.

It really was uncomfortably hot in the Eye of the Storm today and yet strangely damp- my fly box lying out by my bag was soaking wet, with what could only have been the humidity. My sunglasses too kept steaming up!
