The weather looked like it was going to be nice and Sunny, but it started with a strong and VERY cold west wind which turned to blow from the North in the afternoon. It was utterly freezing most of the day, worse than winter, and I almost expected to see icing rod rings!

Had my first outing of the year on the wee burn today, thinking it looked quite nice and there would be some reasonable height of water with recent rains. While the later judgement was correct, the former was miles out, it was really very cold, especially given we are nearly into May.

Had two very short sessions up at Pendreich this weekend, its a call out week so somewhat restricted in getting out, and the weather has been pretty pants for the time of year. The showeriness is fair enough, April showers and all that but its been freezing too, there is snow back on the hills round here- it had all vanished in February!

So I was out bright and early for a 4 hour Catch and Release ticket on what turned out to be a nippy but otherwise stunning morning, and I was first there, well, if you don’t count a guy out in a boat, I can only guess he is the groundsman or the owner.
