Had a couple of hours up at Pendreich Saturday, the weather man reported it was to be a lovely day but it was damp and misty for most of the day with a little sun eeking out later in the afternoon, though it could never be considered warm. I had a couple of hours to get out and make hay so to speak on Saturday and Sunday. Friday as I reported earlier wasn’t the nicest day but between the squally showers in the dank greyness of the afternoon, there were batches of flies coming off the water and the Trout were chasing them up, so you stood a chance sub surface and even on the top.

After 5 long months it’s finally here! The Brown Trout Season opens in Scotland on the customary date of 15th of March, and with that my club water, Pendreich. I have to say while I am sure many of my readers get a bit fed up hearing about my outings up there (there are plenty of them after all) I rarely tire of my outings there.

decided to move down to the bottom left corner as the wind was channeling down there- clearly the fishing would be harder but hopefully there would be fish waiting on food coming to them here. A few casts in, I discovered how difficult it was going to be in the wind, the 6 weight Sink tip was a battle to cast , it was blowing back at me.
