I have been looking forward to the first River Annan Grayling Day of the season and finally getting a chance to get out on a river I fish far too infrequently for a fish I love to catch. Eventually, though it does waterlog and if you catch a fish not only is it full of water but it has a coating of fish slime too. I think it is fair to say, if last year we struck lucky with the weather on Islay, it was unlikely we would strike that lucky two year son the trot. The tail end of this “Hurricane Helene” now officially Storm Helene, has landed in Islay at the same time as us.
