A bit of a different post this, covering as it does the subject of a proposed Scottish Rod license.
There has been some rumour of proposals bouncing about for sometime, over the introduction of a Scottish Rod Licence. Back about 2 or 3 years ago it came up and the rumours were refuted by the Scottish Government as “Not being currently considered” and there being no mechanism or body in Scotland through which some scheme could work.
In 2014 the Scottish Government commissioned a review of Wild fisheries to be reported on by a number of independent bodies. The chair of this review was Andrew Thin, the chairman of Scottish Canals, and former chair of Scottish Natural Heritage. The review panel was supported by people from Marine Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, SEPA and the Institute of Fisheries Management.
