It had to happen, they finally got round to stocking Pendreich this week. Did it need it? Well it’s been fishing brilliantly since the start of the season so in my view had they not stocked it, it would have made little difference, there is no shortage of fish there- in fact a couple of weeks ago one rare flat calm evening it was like rain the patterns made by the fish rising right across the whole loch. The only benefit will be the likely uplift in average fish weights which will be nice, a larger fish now and again makes a change.

I am off out tomorrow on the Clyde with Game Angling Instructor and Charman of the Game Angling Instructors Association, Alberto Laidlaw. While I have to say my angling has improved immeasurably over the last 9 months – to the extent that I now go out expecting to catch at least a fish most trips, I still find my angling skills on moving water leave something to be desired. Everything actually.

Fine weather for ducks

On call this weekend so can’t venture far. Went up to Pendreich just after 12 thinking the afternoon looked like it was going to brighten up.
As I drove up it got darker and darker and was utterly tipping it down by the time I arrived.
I just had to sit it out until it let up a bit so I could get tackled up.
