I have fished Lake of Menteith for many years, pretty much every year since I returned to fishing, I have been there a couple of times a season at least, and sometimes more.
It’s a place I seem to struggle at, though it isn’t always for the want of hooking fish. That I can do ( usually), getting them to the net can be an altogether different thing though.

Newmill Trout Fishery is a multi pond, multi-method commercial trout fishery about three miles outside Lanark and about one mile from Carstairs. The fishery boasts six ponds all stocked with Trout. I believe one of the ponds may have operated as a coarse pond for a while but whether this is still the case I am not sure. As far as I could tell all the ponds hold Rainbow Trout. The Fishery also boasts a popular Fishing Tackle store.

Yesterday ( Thursday ) was the annual Day after Boxing Day charity fishing competition at Swanswater. A full complement of twenty-four anglers was in attendance to occupy the twenty-four staked out pegs in benefit of the Strathcarron Hospice.
