When I got out my scratcher late on Friday morning, after a night shift, I had a text from the competition secretary at Stirling Castle Angling Club asking if I would be interested in being part of a team to fish the Scottish National Clubs Championships heat at Lake of Menteith.

I fished for a while with nothing then out the blue a fish had a very odd go at my olive Klinkhammer on dropper and I missed it. it sort of came at it side on and I mistimed the take completely. I did sting it though so knew it would not return.
