Forget what I said about winter being easier….
I needed out for my fishing fix yesterday but the weather was pretty cold and very, very windy in the morning.
With the forecast saying the wind was due to ease as the afternoon wore on, I popped up to the local, Swanswater for a 2 hour ticket on the small ponds. The main loch, Swanswater itself was the colour of tea and quite choppy when I walked past earlier in the day with the dog and there wasn’t a soul out.

Out of the main Brown Trout season I usually pop along to my “local”, Swanswater, if I need a quick Piscatorial fix. However, if you are a regular reader, which of course you will be, 😉 you will know that my Swanswater outings usually end in humiliation, for me rather than the fish.

Big fat zero
Ok a wee bit more. Two touches all afternoon, on small lures, otherwise nothing on Nymphs or Buzzers. Had a couple of half hearted sniffs at a dry fly ( I was fishing the buzzers under a sedge pattern) but I think these were probably small wild Brownies.

Return to form at Swanswater
It’s my local, and the commercial fishery I visit most, being as its walking distance from my house; a good walk, but walkable. But it’s still my bogey location. I can fish places I have never been and come away with something, but Swanswater continues to confound me.
