Had had a long day jammed in front of a screen today so was keen to get out if the weather was up to it. Nipped up to Pendreich as it was closest and least hassle in case weather turned. The wind has come round a wee bit and casting from the dam wall is more practical which was cool for all I was up to do and the time I had- 2 hours tops.
There were quite a few anglers there already but they said nothing was doing and no fish were moving. As if to contradict this- a fish jumped clean out the water about 3 yards out from the wall there and then!
It flattened off flat calm and fish then started moving- everywhere. But do you think you could catch one?
NOPE!
I tried the venerable old Klinkhammer thats done me so well of late, the CDC caddis, F Fly, buzzers, nymphs, a tiny Emersons Dry (Shit fly) and a couple of other emerger patterns I have forgotten the name of, and the bibio hopper.
I must have tried a dozen or so flies and never had so much as a sniff.
Very frustrating, and wet, cos it came on bucketing a couple of times too!
But hey- beats watching the Apprentice!
