I have mentioned a few times about a fly I have in my box which I bought from John Emerson, of Uniqueflies.co.uk .
This fly has been a brilliant wee pattern but unfortunately, I only have three and they are way smaller than I am currently capable of tying myself.
I have posted here a montage of images to give you some idea of what it’s like. It’s very much like a midge squashed on your windscreen or helmet visor in summer (if like me you ride a motorbike!).
The ones I have are about size 18 or 20- so really small but totally, totally deadly. I want more of them in different colours. My current team are all in grey. I would like some black and some on slightly bigger hooks. I have tried tying these myself but with limited success. I struggle to get the CDC split wing right- and am not really sure the best method to get the bushiness and at the same time flat profile of the wings that John has achieved.

If like me you would struggle to tie this then I can wholeheartedly recommend Johns service, if you know how to tie these feel free to comment and let me know, if I can’t find out I will probably buy some more but I suspect I would want more varieties than John would have time to make!
I might even try the famous Davie McPhail and his You Tube video series to see if he might consider demonstrating the technique to tie these.
