“Combat Fishing”- a’la Hywel Morgan

We decided to have a day out- a long walk with the dog over the hills not too far from home. I had spotted what looked like a route I had not seen before, when out a few days earlier in the car and after a look at an OS map decided why don’t we try that. The weather forecast was rubbish (well not as bad as of late but still due to be wet) so not venturing too far from home meant we could bolt back if it was a bad decision.

Blown out but Undetered

Went out on Saturday night for an hour or so up to Pendreich, the weather had been abysmal all day- blowing the usual gale and out for a walk with the Missus later on the wind seemed to abate a little and it felt like it was warming up. I could stand it no more- so nipped up the loch to catch any possible rise near sunset.

Stockie bashing at Picadilly Circus

It had to happen, they finally got round to stocking Pendreich this week. Did it need it? Well it’s been fishing brilliantly since the start of the season so in my view had they not stocked it, it would have made little difference, there is no shortage of fish there- in fact a couple of weeks ago one rare flat calm evening it was like rain the patterns made by the fish rising right across the whole loch. The only benefit will be the likely uplift in average fish weights which will be nice, a larger fish now and again makes a change.

A blowie old day

I had a wee morning/afternoon session up at Pendreich on Sunday. It was a very changeable day, not cold but a horrible gusty wind and big monsoon like rain showers. So a day for the wading gear! At least it was westerly so not as bad as of late in terms of direction.
