Its been a very nice day again today, June has lived up to its reputation as the driest month of the Scottish year and , you would have to say, has been as nice an early summer as we have had in a long time. Hopefully it will continue.
I was a bit sore this morning ( probably over doing it this week a bit) and being that I have the week off work, I decided to lounge in bed until lunchtime. My shoulders were a bit achy and much as I really, really wanted to go out somewhere for a few hours I felt pretty uncomfortable, so I decided, that when I was giving my son a lift to his work later in the afternoon I would pop over to the loch and have an hour before heading home to make dinner. If I wasn’t up to it fair enough at least it wasn’t a wasted journey as I was in the area anyhow.
I got up there and I was astonished to find it was mobbed! I don’t think I have seen so many cars up there ever! I thought I would have it to myself.
I was speaking to another member I know, George, and he was saying it had been busy the last few nights.
Good to see are still managing to get out and about with the rod. It beggars belief that anyone would want to harm these beautiful birds Kenny.
What was the burn you were fishing if you don’t mind me asking? I’m also on the same club water as yourself. was wondering if it was the burn that flows into the top of Pendrich maybe further up in the hills at the back.
My Girlfriends father is keen to start fly fishing and I think that this would suit him as he is also a keen hillwalker. Any fish caught would be safely returned.

No its not the feeder burn into Cocksburn, though I am led to believe there is a good burn up on Sherrifmuir that’s worth a go.( Somewhere along near the Sherrifmuir Inn, there are pics on Google and it looks reasonably big if you look on an OS map) I have also been told there are some nice burns along the Ochils though not sure what the situation is with fishing them.
The one I fish a couple of times a year is elsewhere and I got permission from the landowner to fish it.
Thanks for that, looking to get up to the wee water this weekend so might try and locate the burn up at sherrimuir and put a line over it.
Do you have any idea what the situation with the boat is? tried calling Lex but cant get hold of him.

I have been a bit frustrated by the boat situation myself and have been asked a number of times. I was talking to a member the other day and they understood what was meant to happen was the refurbished boat was to to be delivered, and a second barrel but in so the boat could be attached to a mooring “triangle”. There would be a pulley system to get the boat in when needed. The plan was apparently that once the boat was in the water the pulley system was to be implemented about a week later. That was about 6 weeks ago and it seems no progress has been made. I won’t repeat the thoughts of the person telling me! I notice that a second barrel was left near the dam wall a number of weeks back presumably to be used in this pulley system, and now I see a third has been put in beside the boat itself ( I presume someone with a float tube is doing this) but to date its not been completed. I have not tried Lex as last time I spoke to him about damage I found to the boat he said he doesn’t deal with it and said it was other members who took care of the boat. So I would not know who to approach. I don’t know his whereabouts if he isn’t answering his phone, sorry, have you tried maybe Murray Hunter the competition secretary, he might know who to ask? I doubt it will impact me now as I don’t think I will be able to fish again until my medication starts working ( if ever), as I can’t now lift my arms to cast.
