I went to my club water today and though it was a gorgeous morning it was not that warm. Not cold either but needed a fleece on most of the day.There was not much activity which surprised me and so I fished some nymph and buzzers initially- a black buzzer on point, a PTN on the middle dropper and a red holo Diawl Bach on top. My son and I had our long-awaited afternoon out on Lake of Menteith today but it was a bit of a grueller.
We arrived up there about 11:30 and by the time we sorted out access to the boat and getting loaded up it was about 12:30. The day was bright but not sunny and initially, almost flat calm. As we launched from the boat house there was an angler landing a fish just over the buoys in Gateside Bay. So it looked hopeful for the day.
I had my usual Sunday morning session up at Cocksburn Reservoir today. The sun was out it was actually quite warm ( I had to remove my base layer under my shirt for the first time this year) and it was glassy flat at times.

I found out about a place not too far from home where there were reputedly Brown trout, my own investigation led me to believe there were indeed and after a few phone calls and emails I managed to get permission to fish the loch occasionally. It’s not a privilege I would abuse and its strictly Catch and release on my part as I only want to use the place as somewhere I can go for a short time, practice a bit casting and who knows, to catch and return the odd fish.

So I decided to pop over to Swanswater for the last two fishing hours of the day to wind up a working week. It was a gorgeous evening not a breath of wind and actually warm. I was just up for having a cast over the small ponds and they were pleasingly quiet.
