After 5 long months it’s finally here! The Brown Trout Season opens in Scotland on the customary date of 15th of March, and with that my club water, Pendreich. With the so called Indian summer apparently here, ( it’s rained at some point, everyday of it here so far )I took the opportunity to grab an afternoon off and head up to Pendreich for what will be the last time this season for me. If you read this blog at all regularly or indeed you find yourself browsing through the tales of my angling trips you may have stumbled over the story of when I went up the wee burn, and lost the fly that was catching me the fish on a strategically placed bush on the other side of the stream. Not having waders on I could not recover it but on a later trip I went back, got said fly and continued to catch on it.

After a blowy at times and changeable afternoon at Pendriech on Saturday where I managed a solitary Brown Trout of about a pound on a black drowned Daddy longlegs I decided I needed a change of scene on Sunday and headed off to Bangour ( read my review here) , a new place for me.

I fully expected to be on my own up there, but there was in fact another angler, fishing from the South bank to get some shelter from the wind. I rarely ever fish the South bank, its quite weedy in places and I rarely see any fish.
