After such a hot bright day yesterday I took a wander up the River Devon, thinking there would be lots of activity. In fact there was but it was mostly small trout and despite the abundance of flies on the water, from midges to very large Mayflies of some sort, I could not get any real idea of what they were taking.

Was up to PendreichCocksburn Reservoir (Pendreich) on Saturday there but it was not a lot of joy. It seems all the fish ( and there are plenty there) are heading for the depths and sulking as soon as there is a hint of cold air.

I went up to Pendreich last night for my first proper evening outing of the year, I have been up once but it was dark before 8 so that doesn’t count. It’s light up to nearly 10 now so it’s more practical.
