I follow Davie MacPhail’s series of fly tying videos on YouTube and today his pattern was called the “Wrong Midge” (for some reason he removed the video).I decided to have a go (as you do but its quite a specific set of materials needed. His uses Hot orange flexifloss or spanflex, white spanflex, Hot orange/red peacock quill and tan thread. All finished with Bug bond Lite and the breathers are oddly, white Bootlace. So where to get the materials?:

The Wrong Midge
I used normal peacock quill coloured first with Orange permanent marker then red once dry.
The white flexi-floss I had, but hot orange was a problem so I again coloured some up orange with markers.
The shoelace I used standard white Antron that I use for posting on parachute flies.
I had the tan thread and I had Bug Bond but just the normal stuff. Having tied a couple I don’t think its bad, the permanent marker might not be as durable but its all sealed in the bug bond and a coat of varnish so I think the fish won’t care. So if his is the wrong midge (named on account of the wrong materials being used originally) mines must be the Wrong Wrong midge!
